Summary: What you need to know about the role: We are looking for an experienced professional who is comfortable conducting research and investigations related to Financial Crimes (Fraud & Anti-Money Laundering), Customer Enhanced Due Diligence, Credit Risk & Underwriting, and/or Brand Risk Management. Meet our team: As a HO&I Onboarding Risk Investigator, you will be a part of the Global Compliance Investigation organization supporting PayPal’s Compliance & Ethics Standards which ensures that the company remains compliant with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and guidelines. You will join a team that is continually learning and staying up-to-date on best practices and works collaboratively to ensure that they are mitigating risk to PayPal and its merchants

In this role, you will engage closely with various stakeholder groups to include PayPal Sales Partners by evaluating the business model and credit risk associated with onboarding and expanding new and current merchant requests. To ensure, we are enabling responsible growth for PayPal you will collaborate with peers across Risk and Compliance teams and others across the organization to support business enablement in high-risk industries.

Your day to day:

  • Conduct and complete meticulous and time-sensitive reviews of potential illegal activity thorough analysis of high-risk customer segments, potential Anti-Money Laundering activity, and/or suspicious financial activity across multiple jurisdictions and countries.
  • Assess high-risk customer profiles, business model risk, credit exposure risk, and large amounts of data to ensure normal and expected activity on new or existing merchants to determine appropriate course of action.
  • Monitor and investigate merchants’ credit card activities, financial, bank, and other processing statements using internal and external risk monitoring tools to assess credit worthiness.
  • Apply analytic techniques to complex information sets to make logical and supported recommendations and decision on related case investigations.
  • Document and prepare both manual and automated reports and summary recommendations regarding findings, issues, and ways to mitigate risks. Oral reports and presentations to management required as needed.

What do you need to bring

  • Professional experience conducting research and investigations related to Financial Crimes (Fraud & Anti-Money Laundering), Customer Enhanced Due Diligence, Credit Risk & Underwriting, or Brand Risk Management.
  • Ability to assess and analyze large amounts of data with a high attention to detail and create reports on critical information.
  • Communicates complex information accurately and effectively through written and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Adept at understanding opposing points of view on highly complex issues and to willingness to integrate different viewpoints.
  • Engagement with peers, financial crimes risk professionals, all levels of management, and other internal or external constituents to deliver comprehensive reviews and investigations of cases.
  • Knowledge of Federal Regulations(Bank Secrecy and USA PATRIOT Acts), and governing bodies (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) & the US Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)), licensing requirements and regional laws preferred.
