Description
The State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services is seeking an Office Specialist for the Division of Children and Family Services. This position is responsible for completing the Central Registry background checks and other tasks that support the program and administration within the Children and Family Services Division.

At least one year of customer service experience, experience with NFOCUS, OnBase, and Microsoft Excel, word; Internal and external customer service experience. Knowledge of Children and Family Services and specifically knowledge related to the Adult and Child abuse and neglect Central Registry.

Examples of Work
The Office Specialist Will
  • Complete Central Registry background checks, answer phone calls and emails related to the Central Registry portal and processing and perform tasks that support the program and administration.
  • Do other tasks that may include completing name changes in our database based on court orders, print and mail Central Registry correspondence, pull information from our database for reports or file requests.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency. OR Experience in customer service or public contact; or applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.
PREFERRED: At least one year of customer service experience, experience with NFOCUS, OnBase, and Microsoft Excel, word; Internal and external customer service experience. It is preferred that applicants have a knowledge of Children and Family Services and specifically knowledge related to the Adult and Child abuse and neglect Central Registry.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Must be highly organized, detail oriented and able to perform repetitive work in a high-volume, fast paced work environment. Must be comfortable working within a team but also be able to be successful working on day to day tasks on their own.
Knowledge of: Basic computer skills are needed.
Skill in: listening to and understanding information and/or instructions received to perform assigned tasks; entering data into spreadsheets or data bases.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel is preferred, general office practices and procedures; computer office applications, systems, and programs; maintain records and files; scanning, multi-function copy machines, telephones and other office equipment; perform repetitive task in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication; English grammar and usage; understand human services, practices, and procedures; accommodate new methods; maintain confidentiality; sharp attention to detail; proofreading skills; accurate keyboarding skills; and predictable and reliable attendance.
