Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

In our program, a broad team of specialists coordinates care for every child. Many different types of doctors, including pediatric neuro-oncologists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, rehabilitation medicine doctors and radiation oncologists work together to make a diagnosis and a treatment plan. Our team also includes psychologists, neuropsychologists, social workers, child life specialists and a school liaison specialist who can help families navigate the challenges of treatment while caring for their child's emotional and psychological health. We work closely with local and national organizations, support groups and community resources for children and their families.
We belong to several national research consortiums that are working to discover better and safer treatments for brain and spinal tumors in children. And because we are part of a leading medical research institution, our patients are among the first to benefit from new scientific findings and clinical trials.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, computer, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse interprofessional team and patient population
- Ability to satisfactorily perform job duties as defined in the job duties/functions
- At least two years of experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and with healthcare experience in any of the following specialties: neurology, neurosurgery, or oncology
- Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
- Experience with clinical trials and research protocols
- Proficiency with APEX and Excel
- Must have submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Must have completed a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
- Must hold current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice
- Must hold a current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license with schedule II in California.
- Must hold current AHA BLS as minimum requirement
- California driver’s license if required for position
- Must obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
