Department Purpose
Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) provides primary care, mental health, urgent care, laboratory, pharmacy, health education and counseling services to registered UC Davis students. SHCS serves approximately 300 patients per day during the school year. The mission is to provide campus health and wellness resources that enable students to successfully achieve their academic goals and life-long wellness. SHCS has approximately 160 staff including managers, senior professionals, professional and support staff, student employees, interns and post doc residents. SHCS is accredited by AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care), and IACS (International Association for Counseling Services). Job Summary
Under the supervision, direction and in close collaboration with the Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) Chief of Psychiatry, provides outpatient psychiatric services including medical management and referral for hospitalization and residential treatment services; performs clinical care and provides consultation to program medical and mental health staff for psychiatric care determinations; provides consultation and education for mental health trainee programs. Complies with program, campus and University of California policies and procedures and all State and Federal legal requirements.

- This position is subject to pre-placement screening provided by Occupational Health Services. Pre-placement screening will consist infection control testing that includes blood tests for TB screening and other infectious diseases and may include a physical exam, provided by Occupational Health Services, given at no charge to the applicant. This is done to meet Federal, State and University requirements.
- Position subject to credentialing process at Student Health and Counseling Services.
- May work overtime, when needed.
- Position requires signing a statement acknowledging requirement to report child abuse (CANRA) and requirement to report suspected abuse of dependent adults and elders.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Recent experience in clinical practice (2-3 years preferred).
- Current valid California (CA) RN license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing
- Must be certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Experience and/or interest in working with college age individuals from diverse social, cultural or socio-cultural background.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with diverse individuals
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction
- Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate
- National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR Certification
- California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Experience working with Practice Management Database and/or Electronic Medical Record system.
- Experience working in a University student health and counseling setting.
- Experience working with historically underrepresented or under-served student communities at major research university.
- Experience working in an integrative medical and mental health service or a collaborative care model.
