Job Description
Overview:


Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks a Assistant Designer -Leather Goods to join the Outlet - Leather Goods Team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Create and update seasonal color cards and generate CADs for color options
  • Work on multiple projects with different deadlines, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understand the Marc Jacobs Customer and brand positioning to ensure design alignment
  • Conduct research to stay informed about current trends and apply them to product design
  • Assist in prototype mock-ups to visualize end product
  • Assist the Design Director through all stages of the design process in line with the design calendar
  • Note taking for the team
  • Adhere to the given design calendar and meet project timelines
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of seasonal boards and presentations for effective communication with cross-functional partners
  • Sketch handbag designs and create computer-aided designs (CADs)
  • Responsible for organizing materials, component library and archive styles
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the design team to ensure a cohesive collection
  • Develop technical specifications using Illustrator or by hand


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Strong proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Highly organized
  • Strong sense of color, fashion, product, and trend knowledge
  • Proficient in both digital and hand sketching techniques
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Art or Fashion or Accessories
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • 0 – 2 years design experience
  • Excellent taste level and brand awareness


SALARY & BENEFITS/WHAT WE OFFER:


The compensation for this position ranges from $55,000-$60,000 (annually). The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate’s relevant skills and experience.
