The National Director, Ride serves as a lead strategist, fundraiser, and leader for JDRF’s Ride Program. The National Director leads the development of the strategy and implementation best practices that will increase engagement and fuel our mission through revenue excellence in Ride.
Reporting to, and working closely with the AVP Fundraising Programs, the National Director, Ride partners with the various Region and Field teams to lead, manage, and enhance JDRF’s program through expert guidance to staff and volunteers.
This position works cross-functionally with internal partners on the Development team and with other key leaders/partners in Marcom, IT, Finance, and external vendors with the goal of increasing revenue, strengthening donor retention, and bringing new supporters to the program.
This individual works from a remote office and may be based anywhere in the US.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
  • Supports a culture of excellence through feedback and positive reinforcement with the field and other key partners, constructively sharing the feedback with direct report(s), chapter staff and leadership, and offering coaching/modeling as needed.
  • Collaborates with national leaders such as Leadership Giving, Corporate Development, Community Engagement, and other Development team members to enhance best practices and achieve desired results.
  • Provides strategic development consultation to those Chapters identified as needing value-add fundraising support (in addition to the day-to-day hands-on support provided by the National Managers).
  • Sets benchmarks and strategies to meet program goals and key performance indicators.
  • Proactively stays current on industry practices/standards and ensure JDRF’s Ride program remains competitive.
  • Supports the vision and expectations for comprehensive training opportunities throughout the year designed to promote best practices and guide staff in bringing P2P strategies to life through local and national events.
  • Effectively leads and manages JDRF’s National Managers in Ride by providing clear vision, expectations, and direction.
  • Collaboratively leads and participates in regular calls and on-site meetings with regional leadership, chapters, and other program directors as necessary.
  • Develops and implements the strategic vision and operational plan for JDRF’s Ride programs.
  • In partnership with Development team members and other key leaders, ensures the continued enhancement and success/growth of all elements of the Ride program, including recruitment and activation, corporate engagement, volunteer leadership structure of the program, external partnerships, and Ride weekend experience.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and reports on progress and outcomes against goals.
Qualifications
  • Ability to work and make judgments independently and take initiative. Well-disciplined and a self-starter that is extremely resourceful.
  • Excellent written, oral, and communication skills. Ability for presentation delivery, conveying ideas, and instructing effectively.
  • Superior active listening, observation, analytical, problem recognition and solving skills.
  • Team player that can interface with all levels of staff, volunteers, and corporate and community leaders.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience mentoring and supervising remote staff.
  • 7 years of non-profit development experience including with matrixed organization(s); experience with peer to peer based fundraising and individual donor fundraising; 5 years preferred in a leadership/management capacity
  • Proven ability to successfully engage volunteers, chapter staff, and organizational leadership in peer-to-peer management and engagement.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency with technology to support the donor or event participant experience, specifically related to CRM platforms and business tools.
  • Flexibility to travel as required, about 40-50% travel.
  • Exceptional management, training, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills. Demonstrate competency when handling diversified assignments.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and utilize relationships. Capability to leverage relationships and negotiate agreements.
  • Proven track record of success in managing community-based fundraising events at the local, regional, and national levels.
  • Ability to work with others to achieve goals.
  • High capacity to assess the value, importance, and/or quality of activities and people.
  • Effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment. Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure.
Target Salary - $94,000 - $120,000
