Job Title: Assistant Superintendent
Job Summary
Field Management position that through the direction of the Project Superintendent provides on-site coordination for all phases of the construction project. Includes management and development of field staff that may include Field Engineers and hourly trade employees. The position is expected to provide top-of-the-line assistance to Project Superintendent and at the same time gaining experience and skills required for position advancement.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Although other duties may be assigned as needed, the key responsibilities and duties of the job are:
- Assist with the investigation of damaged work, accidents, or delays to ensure that proper procedures are being met.
- Assist with all aspects of the project completion and punch processes.
- Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to workers and subcontractors.
- Provide necessary training and direction to assist staff to achieve position advancement.
- Verify TTC material deliveries and comply with procurement requirements.
- Assist with the planning, organization, and direction of all on-site activities concerned with the construction.
- Ensure the job site remains clean and free of construction debris to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Assist Project Superintendent in all duties delegated. Confer with Project Superintendent and Contractors to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
- Inspect and review the project to monitor compliance with building codes, safety codes, and other regulations.
- Oversee Subcontractors who are under contract to complete specific scopes of work on the project.
- Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being installed.
Education and Experience
The minimum education and experience needed to be successful in the job
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field of study. An equivalent level of education and experience will be considered.
Minimum Experience: 4 years of progressive experience in construction site management.

- Ability to demonstrate strong competency in leadership, teamwork, communications, problem-solving, and initiative.
- Advanced understanding of construction means and methods including. Scheduling, cost accounting, quality control, inspections, and job site safety.
- Must exhibit professionalism and organizational expertise to blend subcontractors, and materials suppliers into an effective and efficient workforce that results in a safe, on-schedule, and quality project.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

In addition, it requires the ability to stand, climb, stoop, kneel crouch, crawl, and navigate uneven surfaces. Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Job duties require the physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, work above ground level on construction hoists, ability to climb ladders, negotiate work areas under construction, and maintain balance and equilibrium to prevent falling. Job frequently involves exposure to dust, fumes, odors, heavy machinery, machinery with moving parts, scaffolding and high places, and noise (must shout to be heard).
