Our client, a leader in science and technology development, is looking for a Microbiology Technician in their West Jefferson, OH location. You'll be responsible for providing technical support for standard and complex in-vitro assays, while adhering to standard operating procedures and laboratory safety requirements.

Job Title: Microbiology Technician

Location: West Jefferson, OH

Pay Rate: $18.00 - $20.00/hr

About the Role:

• Understand and perform dilutions, including mathematical calculations involved in assay preparation.
• Decontaminate equipment and materials, and maintain mammalian, viral, and bacterial cell cultures, following proper protocols.
• Safely handle highly hazardous biological/toxic materials in BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Conduct a variety of assays on samples, including bacterial enumeration, viral assays, ELISA, PCR, nucleic acid isolation, flow cytometry, and routine blood and tissue processing. Prepare reagents for experiments.
• Contribute to the development, validation, and maintenance of equipment and biological assays, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.

Requirements:

• Ability to respond appropriately to alarms and handle potential emergency situations.
• Willingness to work in a biosafety level 2 (BSL2) and 3 (BSL3) biocontainment environment, and the ability to wear appropriate respiratory protection.
• Willingness to receive immunizations with FDA licensed vaccines and Investigational New Drugs (IND) recommended for occupational exposure to biological agents.
• Associate's degree in Microbiology/Molecular Biology or related field, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certification in the Biological Suitability Assessment Program (BSAP), undergo DoJ Security Risk Assessment (SRA) approval, and obtain CDC approval to work with Biological Select Agents and Toxins (BSAT) material.
