MERCHANDISING ASSISTANT – JEWELRY & LOOSE GEMSTONES

STS Gems is looking to hire for the role of Merchandising Assistant – Jewelry & Loose Gemstones. As the Merchandising Assistant, you will be responsible for coordinating and assisting the STS Jewels team in all aspects of procurement when it comes to invoices, sourcing, buying, vendor relations, product shipments, data tracking, entry, etc.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate with vendors on merchandise shipments purchased by the buyer.
• Update invoice files.
• Update daily sales spreadsheet.
• Monitor and correct any description issues.
• Track all shipments coming into the office.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• All other duties as assigned by manager.
• Work with vendors on any merchandise issues.
• Address any issues related to shipping with shipping companies.
• Answer merchandise questions from Customer Service and Warehouse.
• Create SKU numbers for new merchandise.
• Assist the accounting department with any payments that need to be made to vendors.

Physical Requirements

• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps
• Moving around to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
• Frequently lift 20-50lbs and occasionally lifting 50 to 70 pounds.
• Remaining in a stationary position, standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.

Skill / Experience

• Ability to read and interpret invoices.
• Knowledge of international sourcing, with an emphasis on China, India, Africa, and South America.
• Desire to learn about sales-driven industry and be able to work independently.
• Team-oriented person with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively utilize various software applications including Microsoft Office Suite.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Microsoft Excel (knowledge of pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.)
• Strong professional and interpersonal skills.
