Preclinical Research Resource (PRR):
The PRR provides high-quality services for basic and translational cancer research underway at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the University of Utah. The PRR has a cancer translational research-centered mission to facilitate the use of the most current and sophisticated in vivo cancer models available for preclinical drug development and identification of relevant biomarkers for treatment selection and evaluation.
This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a dedicated team of researchers who are critical to the research mission at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. The PRR is a fast paced and collaborative environment that executes hundreds of requests from investigators across the University of Utah campus, external academic institutions and the biotechnology sector.

Responsibilities
This is a great opportunity to gain experience in small animal research, cancer research and project management. The hired technician will be involved in a variety of research projects. Some of the specific techniques which the technician might learn and apply, include: small animal surgery and husbandry, in vivo imaging, cell/tissue culture, immunohistochemistry, cryosectioning, fluorescence microscopy, nucleic acid isolation and PCR, protein extraction, Western blot, ELISA, as well as processing patient blood and tissue samples.
Qualifications
A degree in biology or other scientific disciplines in a related field is required. The preferred candidate should have a B.S. or higher degree in Biology or a related field. Previous laboratory experience with small animal research or in vitro organoid culturing is highly desirable. The applicant should have a working knowledge of molecular biology and genetics, as well as basic computer skills. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated initiative, curiosity and dedication to scientific research as well as the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
