The Medical Laboratory Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist performs a variety of laboratory tests of varying complexity to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The Registered Medial Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist performs testing in various departments of the clinical lab, such as Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Transfusion, and more. These scientists act as a technical expert to clinical staff, co-workers, and other departments. They are critical to patient diagnosis and care, ensuring accurate results through quality control, proficiency testing, calibrations, record review, instrument maintenance, and results/analyzer troubleshooting.

Intermountain caregivers in this role will have opportunities for growth, taking on additional responsibilities such as:

• Compliance readiness (CAP, CLIA, etc.)
• QC review
• Assisting with evaluation and validation of new equipment
• Training and mentoring new staff
• Acting as interim Team Lead
• Technical writing
• Key operator

This position requires organizational skills as well as the ability to navigate many technical processes with a high level of detail. These caregivers work well as a member of a team and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Medical Technologist / Medical Lab Scientist certification or equivalent certification as approved by Manager and Human Resources. Certification must be maintained to remain in job.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts that may include weekends, holidays, nights and on-call.
• Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to use laboratory systems, databases, and spreadsheets.
• Experience in relevant areas of the clinical laboratory.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills using email, telephone, and in person.
• Experience with laboratory information systems.

• Operate computers and complex and delicate lab equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
• Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer or other equipment.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
