Medical Insurance Verification Specialist - Hybrid/Fully Remote ($17.73 - $21.71 / Hour)

Job Summary Compensation: $17.73 - $21.71 Hourly

The Verification Specialist is responsible for obtaining accurate insurance information for the verification process; per the department policy and procedures.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities Include The Following

• Work cross-functionally to complete multiple assignments
• Secure necessary insurance and patient demographic information while following HIPAA laws; Verify and enter appropriate insurance into billing system
• Assist in continuous training and cross-functional efforts
• Follow department procedures to notify Leadership to submit Payor updates
• Other duties as assigned
• Manage unbilled front end holds and patient outbound follow-up to patient accounts to obtain information required to bill

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• (Internal) Employed as Verification Specialist 2 for a minimum of 1 year; exceptions with manager approval
• Knowledge of medical and billing terminology; required
• Billing and Collections experience; required
• Knowledge of HIPAA and other industry specific regulations; required
• 4-5 years’ experience working in the healthcare industry; preferred
• Knowledgeable of all companies and modalities; required
• Knowledge of all Government, Commercial and Private payers; required
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to four years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at all levels
• Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
• Intermediate ability to navigate internet portals and webpages for research purposes
• Intermediate customer service and phone skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work independently and in a team setting

• Advanced with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
