Manufacturing Project Manager – Food Preservation

Requirements:

Candidate must have a Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5 years’ experience in the manufacturing industry, of which three (3) years must be in reaction injection molding (RIM) PU foam processes for food preservation products in the home appliances industry. Must have experience in: OEM supplied tooling concepts and processes for open pour RIM PU foam process and closed pour molding PU foam process; quality improvement using control charts to reduce process variation; developing new technologies and integrating new automation cells towards cost-per-unit improvements; developing initial quality inspection station and setting up quality processes for new parts and assemblies; introducing new PU foam formulation towards supply chain risk mitigation; equipment lubrication data acquisition system, and generation of equipment reliability reports; computerized maintenance management system applications for the planning and execution of maintenance activities; and Root Cause Analysis and AM and PM practices. Must have a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification. Must be willing to travel up to 25% annually to national and international manufacturing worksites.

Job Duties:

Utilize knowledge of Six Sigma Black Belt techniques to develop activities related to new reaction injection molding (RIM) PU foam processes equipment and tooling, improving productivity of current process. Perform PU foam equipment commissioning and ramp up for top mount & freezer appliance product delivery. Deliver safety, cost, quality goals for all new product launch in RIM PU foam processes across North America. Lead and deliver as per business plan RIM PU foam process tooling implementation & part approval for new product launch for Anderson and Juarez Mexico manufacturing sites. Apply Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) supplied tooling concepts and processes for open pour (RIM) reaction injection molding PU foam process and open or closed pour molding PU foam process to evaluate new product design. Provide initial approval of quality improvements using control charts to reduce process variation. Collaborate with product development team to launch new product to market and develop new process technologies. Develop new technologies by identifying efficient processes and integrating new automation cells towards cost-per-unit improvements. Develop initial quality inspection station and setting up quality processes for new parts and assemblies. Introduce new PU foam formulation towards supply chain risk mitigation. Oversee equipment lubrication data acquisition systems and generation of equipment reliability reports to ensure Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets are met. Utilize computerized maintenance management system applications for the planning and execution of maintenance activities. Initiate generation of Root Cause Analysis for process breakdown and conduct brainstorming sessions to prevent future breakdowns and work with both suppliers and plant maintenance to initiate AM (Autonomous Maintenance) and PM (Preventive Maintenance) practices. Work with cross functional teams to deliver new PU chemical plants (wet system), simulation work, material development, including process chemicals isocyanate and polyol and blowing agents technologies related to safe and cost-effective manufacturing of reaction injection molding (RIM) process for appliances. Perform new PU foam tools buy-off with suppliers, developing a supplier base and reducing lead time towards quicker product launch to market. Develop equipment Process Failure Mode Evaluation and Analysis (PFMEA) and participate in early design development process. Develop equipment layout & specifications towards capacity expansion by addition of new equipment for current/new product-based on factory demand. Perform layout evaluation and installation of new machines to increase production volumes. Travel up to 25% annually to national and international manufacturing worksites.
