Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Talent Management, the Manager, Talent & Performance, creates the organizational strategy and manages the framework to define the talent planning, leadership/high-potential development, and performance management initiatives to achieve business goals and create an internal bench of top talent for MBUSA and MB Canada. Key responsibilities include leading the execution of strategic talent planning activities, supporting workforce optimization via talent mobility strategies, creating the framework to identify and develop high potential employees, guiding the design of development programs for leadership populations, and driving the performance management processes for the organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Effectively leads and supports the development of team members and drives team performance
  • Collaborates with local and international HR Business Partners to coordinate talent assessments/reviews and strategic talent planning and development activities
  • Responsible for company-wide communication on talent and performance management activities, resources, timelines and expectations
  • Oversees strategies to accelerate development of high potentials and successor candidates to build a leadership and executive pipeline
  • Benchmarks with industry best practices and industry developments in talent management
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition and key business stakeholders to drive transparency of internal opportunities in support of workforce optimization and mobility
  • Responsible for executing talent management and leadership development strategies in alignment with organizational priorities and business operations
  • Oversees the creation and maintenance of a talent management/succession planning process and database
  • Partners with the Manager, Learning & Development to develop and execute an integrated approach to learning and development, talent management and leadership onboarding
  • Partners with the Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion to ensure all strategic talent planning and mobility initiatives support diversity aspirations
  • Responsible for the development and execution of high-potential management and development programs that align with long-range business strategies
  • Facilitates all VP and President’s level midyear and year-end talent reviews focusing on senior leadership development, succession planning and mobility
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
  • Experience with the oversight of leadership and management development programs and strategies
  • Responsible for the oversight and allocation of expenses for the department’s operating plan
  • Skill and confidence in addressing ambiguous and sometimes complex challenges with very little direct guidance
  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation/facilitation
  • Ability to establish trust and a reputation for discretion, sound judgment and advice
  • Strong business acumen including problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration across multiple functions and departments
  • Adept at directing and leading multiple competing priorities in a results-driven, time-critical, rapidly changing environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and execute through others, providing coaching and guiding the development of team members
  • Strong teamwork and partnering skills in support of the mission, vision and values of MBUSA and key Talent Management strategies
  • Experience leading organization-wide talent and performance management initiatives, with a broad understanding of leadership and talent development models, frameworks and tools to increase organizational and leadership effectiveness
  • Skilled in creating a strategic framework that integrates the “big picture” with tactical execution
  • Ability to build rapport and business relationships with key stakeholders and executive leadership; strong executive presence
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • 7+ years’ OD or related experience; experience in leadership development, talent management and succession planning preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology or related field, or commensurate experience
  • 3+ years’ experience leading others
  • Experience developing and/or facilitating learning strategies for management and executive-level participants preferred
