The Manager, Quality oversees the division's total quality function by planning total quality policies, programs, and initiatives. Oversees development of new testing tools, methods and systems to ensure products and services meet quality standards.
This position will serve our Friedrich Division, located in San Antonio, TX. This position can be partially remote/work-from-home, but the employee must be based in the San Antonio area, per Rheem’s Remote Working Policy.
What You’ll Do
  • Manages quality and quantity of direct employee(s) productivity.
  • Prepare budgets for approval of higher management and control costs of Quality Control Department.
  • Develop and interpret specifications and quality control procedures to assure acceptability of products from the standpoint of quality and conformity to specifications or customer requirements.
  • Responsible for the Plant's product quality administration, policies, procedures, processes and quality levels.
  • Oversee product quality level, organization, administration, policies, procedures and operation of all quality control activities in a plant.
  • Ensures annual goals and major activities tie into key quality related budgetary line items to ensure performance to the annual budget.
  • Prepares and maintains such reports, records and charts as are necessary to keep management informed of the quality climate.
  • Participates on the plant operating committee directed toward improving operations and developing new methods and procedures.
  • Administers quality control policies and processes. Issue final approval on remedial action and make final determination on inspection problems that have not been settled through subordinate supervisory channels.
  • Prepares and maintains the Quality Control department budget.

  • Provides direct supervision over assigned staff.
  • Develop and interpret specifications and quality control procedures to assure acceptability of products from the standpoint of quality and conformity to specifications or customer requirements.
  • Coordinates and monitors the inspection process of incoming products and components Monitor performance and implement improvements.
  • Prepares classification of defects and establish quality levels for major purchased items for distribution to vendors. Represent Company to vendors, customers and outside agencies.
  • Supervise and train subordinates on all matters pertaining to quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Researches and recommends cost saving ideas in product design and plant processes.
  • Drives initiatives to prevent/ resolve quality related matters in collaboration with other functional areas to include but not limited to operations, engineering, technical service, sales and marketing.
  • Supervises and trains staff on all matters pertaining to quality assurance policies and procedures.
Job Qualifications
What You Need
  • Knowledge of business and management principles and practices
  • Industry relevant production experience in quality systems, procedures and inspection methods.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must have a broad knowledge of the principles and regulations related to quality assurance.
  • Familiar with QS9000 and production part approval processes preferred.
  • Ability to travel, including internationally, up to 20% with no restrictions.
  • Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • Familiar with ISO and ASME standards.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a matrix team environment.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy.
