Position Description


Position Title: Manager, Professional Education & Relations


Position Summary


In this role, you will be responsible for faculty engagement and program management leadership for our multiple Professional Education (physician peer-to-peer education) tactics including Local Speaker Programs, Physician Webinars, 360° Events, Advisory Boards and Centers of Excellence. Additionally, you will support the development and execution of our Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Management strategy and system. This position will report to the Director of Commercial Education within the Marketing group and will be responsible for working with primary focus on the Ocular Division. Each tactic relies on strong relationships internally and externally, the efficient use of multiple internal systems, and following defined processes to plan and execute these tactics effectively. You will be responsible for the leading and managing of these systems and processes to help drive our world class Professional Education offerings. This role will work closely with many functions within the company including but not limited to Sales Leadership, Sales, Product Marketing, Digital Marketing, Marketing Communications & Events, Commercial Operations, Medical Affairs, Legal, and Finance.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Oversees coordination and execution of key medical education programs, including requisition processes, agenda development, logistics planning, appropriate use of internal resources, post-visit action items and accountability
  • Develops and maintains pool of physician faculty to support all peer-to-peer opportunities; includes defining annual needs, identification of qualified key opinion leaders, HCP contracting, training, engagement, tracking of hours, and payment
  • Develops and maintains relationships with physicians and sales team.
  • Meets departmental budget and financial objectives by forecasting training requirements and working with Director of Commercial Education.
  • Leverages product and market knowledge to help drive effective programming.
  • Creates tools and program collateral as appropriate (e.g., communication and/or tracking software; program calendar, brochure, sell sheets)
  • Acts as host of physician visits and other participants toward smooth agenda flow and execution, while representing the face of BioTissue Professional Education to guests
  • Develops educational strategies and implements programs to support physician engagement and product/procedural adoption
  • Identifies educational facility needs and approves equipment purchases for lab work.
  • Collaborates with internal departments, such as marketing, sales, and external partners and allies in the development and implementation of plans, and programs.
  • Participates in select company and industry events such as sales meetings, seminars, training programs, conventions, trade shows, and other events, as requested
  • Working with the Director of Commercial Education, analyzes and reports on core department metrics monthly, quarterly, annually

Skills & Abilities


  • Strong attention to details

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Ability to travel up to 50%. This could, at times, be higher.
  • Ability to represent the company at a variety of business functions or situations in a professional and competent manner
  • Sales and/or clinical consultant experience with preference for the Ocular market.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • 10 years of experience selling and driving programs in the med-tech space.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, including ability to interact with physicians and surgeons
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with department guidelines
  • Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of procedures, products and activities
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workflow to meet established timeframes
