Job Description

Type of Vacancy: Salaried, full-time

Location: Remote/home office anywhere in the continental United States
Report to: Director of Facilitation Development
Supervises: Dependent on project, Manager, Facilitation Engagement may be a Project Leader with project team supervision and leadership development responsibilities
Compensation: The full salary range for this position is $80,000 - $121,007 annually. There are two types of experience being considered for this role: Experience that is directly relevant to the role and Total Working Experience, in all fields. This includes: internships and consulting work. In collaboration with the hiring manager, the People and Culture team calculates experience based on the candidate’s most current resume. When calculating the offer, consideration is given to candidates that possess additional qualifications (i.e., desired qualifications). Teaching Lab will generally cap salaries for new employees at 105% of the midpoint to allow for continued growth in the role over time.

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Manager, Facilitation Engagement promotes a positive experience for all contractor coaches and facilitators. In support of Teaching Lab’s mission, the Manager will coordinate and implement effective hiring, onboarding, connection, engagement, and retention initiatives throughout the entire contract term for these contractors to ensure that Teaching Lab consistently provides excellent facilitation to all partners to positively impact teaching and learning. In addition, the Manager will help grow national awareness of our facilitation program and meet Teaching Lab’s strategic goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate collaborations, workshops and professional learning opportunities for facilitators, delivering high-quality content aligned with best practices.
  • Conducting Welcome calls
  • Provide support to the Centralized Staffing project team by identify coaches and facilitators who could be staffed to new or existing projets based on available data and insights on expertise, competencies, and availability
  • Engage in personal and organized learning opportunities as a team member at an organization which champions racial equity and centers anti-racism
  • Engage in continuous learning
  • Enter payment information and provide initial approval in the vendor payment form for onboarding and other facilitation-related paid tasks
  • Develop, update, maintain, and implement surveys at key touchpoints for coaches and facilitators, including but not limited to: mid-year and end-of-year surveys
  • Model designing and facilitating high-quality professional learning
  • Collaborate with Senior Directors, Program, Directors, Program and Managers, Program to continuously refine and develop high-quality professional learning content and implement professional learning
  • Act as first intake of facilitator concerns and escalate to the Director of Facilitator Development and/or the Director, People and Culture Services as needed
  • Continuously and proactively review feedback surveys from coaches and facilitators to gather insights and programmatic improvements
  • Collaborate with others in the Shared Operations division and across the organization to generate ideas, strategies, and systems to meet hiring, onboarding, engagement, and continuous improvement goals for coaches and facilitators
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilitator Development or Executive Team.
  • Continuously and proactively review feedback surveys from coaches and facilitators to gather insights and improvements of the Facilitation Program
  • Reviewing of responses on the Onboarding course on the LMS
  • Conducting check in meetings
  • Hiring and onboarding of coaches and facilitators
  • Conduct exit interviews for coaches and facilitators and provide feedback to the Facilitation Program team
  • Continuously design content, conducting outreach, and implementing regular and engaging opportunities for contractor facilitators and coaches to increase engagement with Teaching Lab to ensure retention and potential pipeline into full-time roles. Activities include but are not limited to: book clubs, Midday Mixers, office hours, surveys, or newsletters
  • Manage and update various Monday.com boards to ensure timely and accurate information on all coaches and facilitators
  • Utilize strong, detail oriented, differentiated communication methods to ensure coherence and clarity across multiple teams Represent Teaching Lab at conferences, workshops, onsite, and meetings, engaging with educators, policymakers, and other stakeholders to promote our mission and services
  • Provide mentoring to Tier 1 coaches and facilitators on facilitation competencies
  • Provide support to prepare regular reports on program progress, outcomes, and impact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in the hiring process for new facilitators
  • Conduct 1:1 conversations with each coach at least once a year to understand their experience, to identify opportunities for engagement or development for coaches and facilitators, and to improve the Facilitation Program
  • Leverage and triangulate data collected from other departments at the organization to make decisions about the Facilitation Program
  • Evaluation and dissemination
  • Provide support to the Employer Branding project team by identifying or curating content related to coaches and facilitators
  • Create and deliver training to other team members on core skills or competencies within the Manager, Facilitation Engagement role which is also transferable and critical for other roles
  • Work with Teaching Lab team members to identify and engage new and existing facilitators and coaches on scopes of work that drive towards impact and outcomes for teachers and students
  • Collaboration
  • In collaboration with the Director of Facilitator Development and the Talent Acquisition Partners, establish benchmarks and resources for each phase of the hiring process of facilitators
  • Stay abreast of key research and guidance in the field, attend learning experiences to build skills and competencies in project management, client management, coaching, and adult facilitation
  • Engagement and community-building with coaches and facilitators
  • Develop, update, maintain, and implement surveys at the close of hiring and onboarding for coaches and facilitators
  • Research, order, and order manage gifts for coaches and facilitators
  • Collaborate with the Learning & Research business function to adapt and improve data collection and impact evaluation processes
  • Regularly engage with project leads and CPMs on project teams to:share updates from the Facilitation Program, ensure coaches and facilitators are receiving support to be ready for client services, ensure that coaches and facilitators are being observed and given feedback for improvement using the identify opportunities for engagement or development for coaches and facilitators, and identify opportunities for collaboration between the Facilitation Program and the Program division or client project teams
  • Create, build, or maintain systems to keep and use accurate data on Teaching Labs’s facilitation pool to support staffing decisions and development opportunities
  • Collaborate with the Director of Facilitator Development and others to plan, staff, and facilitate regional meet-ups of coaches and facilitators
  • Creating content for and implementing an excellent onboarding experience for new contractor facilitators and coaches to support them in understanding Teaching Lab as an organization. Activities include but are not limited to:
  • Conduct 1:1 stay conversations with coaches and facilitators who have been with the organization for 2+ years
  • Seek and respond to feedback from staff and provide recommendations to adjust hiring, onboarding, and engagement practices for coaches and facilitators accordingly
  • Administrative and operational oversight
  • Sending Welcoming email
  • Develop, update, maintain, and implement surveys to coaches and facilitators at key points, including but not limited to: post-hiring, post-onboarding, mid-year, and end-of year the close of hiring and onboarding for coaches and facilitators
  • Continuously and proactively review feedback surveys on hiring and onboarding of coaches and facilitators to gather insights and programmatic improvements

  • >10% improvement between beginning and end of year in teacher equitable mindsets and CRSE content knowledge and practices

  • The Manager, Facilitation Engagement is accountable for achieving goals set in collaboration with their manager, aligned with Teaching Lab’s goals, and especially, programmatic-specific Key Success Indicators (KSI) like:

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience coordinating and managing staff surveys
  • Five (5) or more years combined experience working in PK-12 education, with minimum of two years experience teaching PK-12 students from traditionally underserved backgrounds with demonstrated evidence of impact
  • Demonstrate strong professional judgment and confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong professional judgment and confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and at least one project management system (monday.com, Asana, etc.)
  • Three (3) or more years combined experience leading or high-impact professional learning for educators or instructional coaching (in any subject area)
  • Three (3) or more years of successful experience managing staff engagement and retention initiatives with a strong emphasis on internal communication and program management
  • Experience in project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely program milestones and objectives delivery

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience providing professional learning and coaching supports, and services in and for consultative organizations
  • Experience providing professional learning, coaching support, and services in and for consultative organizations
  • Experience coaching facilitators or coaches

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
