Job Summary:

The successful candidate will support the implementation of EHS management systems to ensure regulatory and safety compliance at multiple Ultra Clean Technology (UCT) facilities. Job duties will encompass a variety of EHS areas.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet local/regional EHS/Environmental training. Identify training gaps, develop, and implement EHS training programs.
  • Review and approve all production equipment, engineering controls and workspace plans prior to implementation.
  • Approve industrial hygiene sampling strategies and results.
  • Serve as the primary contact and respond to reports of leaks, spills, and any other release of potentially hazardous materials and emergencies.
  • Has the authority to stop production on equipment, process, other activities if safety risks are not being met.
  • Perform other duties, projects, and initiatives as assigned.
  • Develop and implement the EHS management systems to drive compliance with all relevant county/country of operation safety and environmental regulations (CalOSHA, CalEPA, DOT, BAAQMD, etc.).
  • Conduct occupational risk assessments (Ergonomic Assessments) to prevent sprain/strains and improve workplace conditions and practices.
  • Conduct routine compliance EHS audits/inspections, provide reports and action plans to ensure corrective actions are fully implemented.
  • Collect, measure, and analyze, regional and site EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to discover trends for continuous improvement or corrective measures. Perform/participate in management reviews and report on EHS performance and tactical and strategic improvement planning.
  • Drive and mentor Safety Committee, communicate action plans, and follow up with action owners.
  • Develop, conduct, and update Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for different operations, communicate identified risks, and provide solutions. Ensure corrective actions are identified and implemented, prior to employees being qualified (Assessments annually).
  • Develop and submit all applicable EHS permits, Forms, and reports to EPA, Wastewater, Fire Department, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Meet goal of Zero injuries and accidents to the employees and contractors by establishing a generative safety culture and EHS management systems.
  • Drive incident investigations and provide corrective and preventive actions to prevent the reoccurrence of the incidents.
  • Under the direction of the Global EHS Head, develop strategic EHS plans to meet organizational goals.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on EHS matters and advise UCT sites / business units to ensure compliance with local regulatory law.
  • Lead the charge to identify systemic Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) gaps, develop corrective measures and implement solutions to sustain compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety law.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Act as EHS subject matter expert and utilize approaches that require innovation and technical skills.
  • Well-developed planning and organizational skills including the ability to prioritize activities, meet commitments, and meet deadlines.
  • Work effectively as a team player with multiple working groups and departments.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and writing skills.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • Bachelor of Science (or country equivalent) in Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering field preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications in health and safety (e.g., CSP, CHMM) are preferred but not required.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years relevant working experience preferably within a chemical, metal finishing, semiconductor, oil and gas, wastewater treatment, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated experience in hazardous materials, emergency response team development, implementation, and administration.
  • Strong track record of submitting permits, working with regulatory agencies, leading, and developing EHS programs, performing audits, JHA, and gap assessment.
  • Extensive experience and working knowledge of environmental regulations including stormwater, air/water, CERS, HMBP, RCRA, Form R, etc.

The pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is expected to be between $116,00 and $174,000 yearly; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including variable pay and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
