The role of the EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) Manager is responsible for leadership and development of professional and administrative EHS staff ensuring all EHS programs, procedures, training, work practices and controls are effectively implemented for Pace assets. This position is responsible for identifying applicable EHS regulations and risks while interacting with Operations, HR,
Accounting, Sales, and Corporate Health & Safety to implement acceptable systems in order to ensure compliance and conformance to EHS Policies and Management Systems and programs.
  • Provides maintenance, review of procedures, programs and processes related to the Pace EHSMS. Serves as a support function to the Sr. Director Environmental Health & Safety.
  • Supports the strategic alignment, collaboration and coordination of EHS programs across all corporate and division locations by working with senior leaders across the businesses and functions to inspire participation and to bring cohesiveness and synergy to the program.
  • Develops a compelling, strategic-focused and multi-faceted communication plan that addresses owners, clients, employees, management, and other affiliates; sells ideas and solutions by forming partnerships with Division Presidents and corporate executives and demonstrating value.
  • Provides guidance for departmental processes and activities including compliance with environmental and safety regulations; provides leadership and recommendations regarding the design, embedment and administration of all environmental and safety related initiatives, policies, procedures, and tactical processes.
  • Drives the operational implementation of initiatives and processes in such a way as to build an organization-wide environmental and safety culture; ensures that the key elements of this environmental and safety culture are consistent with the emphases and metrics of Pace Industries.
  • Reviews environmental and / or safety related incidents investigations and participates as directed; ensures proper policies and procedures are followed; prepares (in conjunction with others) EHSMS report; provides analysis of trends/data and provides recommendations for follow-up and action planning.
  • Monitors developments, trends and legislation related to environmental and safety and evaluates impact on business operations; recommends policy and procedural improvements as appropriate.
  • Oversees and participates in the development of (in conjunction with others) various leadership training and employee awareness programs; monitors the effectiveness of these programs and links training completion/performance to environmental/safety/business metrics.
  • Attends relevant industry conferences and professional meetings as part of benchmarking; identifies innovations/practices/tools/approaches that have potential utility for Pace; serves as subject matter expert and coach to operating leaders across the company and industry.
  • Represents the Pace Industries organization to affiliate organizations, external agencies, and public officials as part of broad planning or communication efforts; explains, justifies, defends department programs, policies, and activities as part of negotiations or issue resolution.
  • Plans and coordinates, through subordinate staff and embedded division contacts, the EHSMS work plan; recommends projects and programmatic areas of responsibility; reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures; meets with staff and division contacts to facilitate work and resolve problems.
  • Actively participates in industry, client, and community relations to enhance company image.

  • Frequent travel is required in support of the division EHS Managers and corporate EHS objectives and programs.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Four year college degree, plus 5 years related experience and/or training, and 4 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
