Position Summary

Summary:
Under general direction, the Medical Assistant works with patients, families, providers, other providers, and staff to promote timely access to needed care, providing daily continuity of care coordination, and coaching patients, families, and caregivers to understand the patient’s care plan and self-care management responsibilities. Responsibilities, knowledge, skills, abilities, and working conditions may change as needs evolve. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Detailed responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates responsible use of LRH's resources including people, finances, equipment and facilities.
  • Knows and adheres to organizational and department policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships among patients and their families, care team that supports their access to the medical home. Provide timely communication with patients, make inquiries, and execute follow-up actions between disciplines.
  • Perform duties in a manner that is culturally and, if applicable, use translation service when appropriate. Demonstrate flexibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to cooperate while working with others in multi-disciplinary teams with activities to include participating in daily huddles.
  • Stewardship
  • Collect and document data related to patient needs, with the exception of entering orders into the EMR, which should only be done by the Certified Medical Assistant
  • Participate in continuing professional growth through attendance at workshops and professional in-services and through independent research and reading to include timely and respectful communication skills.
  • Safety And Performance Improvement
  • Behaves in a mindful manner focused on self, patient, visitor, and team safety.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with provider directives.
  • LRHPG Medical Assistant
  • The worker in this role must demonstrate competencies as applicable to job. Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
  • Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives.
  • Maintains sanitation and cleanliness of exam rooms and stocks necessary supplies or materials as needed throughout the workday.
  • Fosters an inclusive and engaged environment through teamwork and collaboration.
  • Assist in delivering quality care to providers, patients, patients’ families, and caregivers. Be aware and sensitive to cultural differences between patients and co-workers. Demonstrate personal responsibility and respect for patients, their families, and co-workers in professional appearance.
  • Ensures patients and families have the best possible experiences across the continuum of care.
  • Participates actively in process improvement and adoption of standard work.
  • Demonstrates accountability and commitment to quality work.
  • Perform job related duties such as vital signs, phlebotomy, assisting with procedures as trained, and EKG. Engage patients, patients’ families, and their caregivers in understanding and monitoring patient self-management care plans in a manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate to the patient and caregiver.

  • High School or Equivalent


Other information:
Essential Experience: Possess either 3 years of prior experience in a MA, CNA, or PCA role, or possess Florida Certified Nurse Assistant Certification.
Certifications Essential: CPR certification
