Job Responsibilities

• Provide COSEP training to tenured employees as needed.
• Participate in meetings/training and community relations/recruiting activities as needed.
• This position is located at Tyger River Correctional Institution.
• Consult with training academy and institutional management team re: new hire job performance.
• Oversee correctional officer skills enhancement program (COSEP) training.
• Consult with HR/INST MGMT weekly to discuss new hires, retention data, needs/concerns.
• Conduct performance evaluations and observation reports on all uniform new hires on all shifts.
• Monitor, evaluate, and track new hires' progress through the first year of employment.
• Submit recommendations/reports to appropriate staff.

Must successfully complete eight (8) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire

Minimum And Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and supervisory experience in correctional, security, or police work. A bachelor's degree in human services or criminal justice field may substitute for the required supervisory experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements: (Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

• A high school diploma.
• Three (3) years’ experience in correctional security or police work to include one (1) year of correctional supervisory experience.

Resume preferred, but not required.
Certified by the SCDC training academy and satisfactory completion of the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position. Must be able to work all available shifts. Additional Comments
