As a Level Designer at Squanch Games you are in charge of making unique and memorable worlds. You’ll work on levels at all points of their creation: paper maps, white box layouts, gameplay spaces, playtesting and iteration, and final polish Creating memorable levels is extremely important to you and should have a passion for level design.


Responsibilities:

  • Be collaborative and humble: You know that the best work comes from a team who trust and respect each other. You strive to collaborate with others and don’t care whose ideas win. Best ideas win.
  • Create immersive gameplay scenarios that support and enhance the core mechanics of the game.
  • Use UE4 to build out well designed and functional white box layouts that also have great compositions, pacing, flow, and strong aesthetics.
  • Use UE4 Blueprints to script basic level functionality.
  • Play to your strengths and not be afraid to admit your weaknesses.
  • Work closely with other teams to deliver content that meets each disciplines goals and creates a memorable experience.
  • Address bugs and gameplay issues to assure a stable and polished product.

Requirements:

  • Credit on one or more published titles.
    • Shipped console title is a plus.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Maya or other major 3D modeling program.
  • Be comfortable with some structure and process, but willing to roll with the punches.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in the arts is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with level editing tools and scripting (Unreal Engine, Unity, or similar editors).
  • Good sense of aesthetics, design, colors and an eye for composition.
  • Very good interpersonal skills including strong communication skills; both verbal and written skills are required.
  • Shipped console title is a plus.
  • 2+ years of professional game industry experience.
