Learning & Development Specialist (Hybrid) JobDescription


Holder Construction Company, an Atlanta-based commercial construction company with operations throughout the United States, is seeking a highly motivated Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist to join our Associate Development team. Our Associate Development team mission is to champion associate growth, and develop individual, team and organizational capabilities.


As an L&D Specialist, you will work in a highly collaborative environment with subject matter experts and other members of the Associate Development team to design, develop, and implement effective learning solutions and recommend learning strategies that align with company culture.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Champion a culture of development and challenge associates to grow themselves and others.
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality course materials, specifically instructor-led training, as well as e-learning, performance support tools, and interactive multimedia that support diverse learning styles.
  • Coach initiative champions, subject matter experts, and others on developing learning content and enhancing their skills as trainers and facilitators.
  • Conduct evaluations and gather feedback on the effectiveness of instructional materials, making necessary revisions and improvements as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with subject matter experts (SMEs), stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to determine learning needs, develop learning objectives, recommend learning solutions, and support execution for technical and non-technical skill development.
  • Utilize instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and industry best practices to create effective learner-centered experiences, including content development for large-scale corporate learning events.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and instructional design best practices to enhance instructional strategies and methodologies.
  • Prioritize instructional design projects, estimate work efforts, identify resource requirements, and provide weekly status reports of active and pending projects.
  • Develop and maintain instructional design documentation, including design documents, storyboards, and project plans.
  • Ensure content in the learning management system is current to provide associates with access to formal and informal learning opportunities that meet core job skill requirements.
  • Review training content and support materials for accuracy, consistency, alignment with learning objectives, and make recommendations for improvements based on learner feedback and performance outcomes.


Candidate requirements include:


  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, manage production schedules, and meet deadlines.
  • Desire and enthusiasm to work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of effectively collaborating and maintaining productivity in a hybrid work setting.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS).
  • Proactive problem solver with the ability to handle most situations, while recognizing when to escalate complex issues.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.
  • Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools and content creation tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia or similar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proven ability to design and develop synchronous and asynchronous training using instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and effective learning techniques.


Education And Experience


  • Construction or safety experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design or a related field.
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential and/or Instructional Design certification preferred.
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in instructional design for instructor-led, and self-paced training, eLearning development, or a related role.
