Laborer - Parks & Recreation - Friday - Monday

The City of Friendswood is currently accepting applications for a full-time Laborer in the Parks & Recreation Department. This position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the City's parks, buildings, grounds, and structures.

• Inspects building facilities, park facilities, and other park equipment including vehicles
• Performs simple plumbing repairs, such as unclogging plumbing fixtures and repairing minor leaks
• Applies over the counter insecticides to areas as needed
• Documents daily work routine and keeps record of janitorial supply inventory
• Perform routine ground maintenance, including emptying trash cans, cleaning restrooms, and picking up litter and other debris
• Performs daily inspections and cleaning of Parks' vehicle and equipment
• Assist in the maintenance and clean-up of park facilities and City buildings
• Assists in setting up the annual Fourth of July and other City sponsored events
• Work Performed:

Education and Experience: High school diploma or G.E.D., 6 months experience; valid Texas Driver's License
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Basic knowledge in the use and care of janitorial equipment; basic knowledge in the operation of a motor vehicle (with and without a trailer in tow), landscaping tools and maintenance equipment (including power tools and basic hand tools); basic knowledge of plumbing, simple carpentry and knowledge of set up and assembly.
Physical Requirements: Primarily works outside so employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, noise, fertilizer, and insect sprays. Physical demands are heavy and may include lifting, standing, walking, and bending.
