Pre-employment Testing Requirement


This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. Please read the job description in its entirety for additional information on accessing the assessment. The assessment should be completed by Sunday, August 13, 2023.

What role you will play in our team


The Lab Technicians are responsible for the safe, reliable, and environmentally sound testing of our process streams and products to provide both quality certifications to our customers and analysis to run our chemical facility. Successful candidates will be provided 4-8 weeks of safety and laboratory training by a dedicated technician in our fast-paced, state of the art industrial lab. Lab Technicians work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays to support a 24/7 manufacturing site.
This position is located in Gregory, Texas.


What you will do


  • Understand general laboratory QA/QC requirements
  • Troubleshoot/Notify Specialists when instrument is out of control
  • Prioritize and run samples according to sample protocol
  • Assist with the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
  • Participate in Test Method Assessments
  • Understand and follow all safety procedures
  • Record and report test data with rigorous conformance to procedures
  • Lead/Participate in safe work practice team activities, and actively care for all
  • Perform Statistical Quality Control (SQC) tests according to schedule
  • Verify instrument status, ensure calibration, and maintain standard/solution expiration labels to ensure they are legible and have not expired
  • Follow all laboratory analysis methods and procedures rigorously and without deviations
  • Perform test methods and conduct laboratory analyses (hands-on working on the bench)
  • Maintain inventory of SQC standard on post

About you


Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to work under general supervision to meet changing priorities and deadlines within a demanding 24/7 work environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
  • A minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience in a laboratory or an associate’s degree or higher in relevant major (biology, chemistry, lab technician, etc.)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Proficiency with standard computer software, including MS Word and Excel
  • Successful completion of the ExxonMobil Pre-employment Test*
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • 12-hour rotating shifts, includes weekends and holidays; overtime may be required
  • Dependable and reliable
  • This position requires a pre-employment assessment. After applying you will receive the Online Assessment via email. Assessment results (pass or fail) are valid for 365 days and applicants MUST wait the mandatory year before retesting for U.S. Lab, Operations, and Mechanical job postings that require the pre-employment assessment.

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

  • Demonstrated relevant work experience (industrial lab experience), particularly hands-on experience with wet chemistry instrumentation (titrations, distillation, RVP, UVs, ICP, etc.) and/or gas chromatography
  • Mechanical/instrumental aptitude
  • Desire and ability to be a leader in personnel safety and teamwork dynamics
  • Experience working in a team environment

Pre-Employment Testing Guidance


This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. After applying you will receive a pop up giving you access to the assessment. You may take the assessment at that time or utilize the instructions below to access the assessment at a time convenient for you. Note that the assessment must be completed by the deadline in order for you to be considered for the O&M position for which you have applied.


IMPORTANT

The O&M test has been revised. Effective December 1, 2021 ALL candidates must complete the revised assessment. Even if you have tested within the last 365 days (passed or failed), if you tested before December 1, 2021, you must complete the revised assessment to be considered for this O&M opportunity. Failure to complete the assessment by the deadline will result in your disqualification from consideration for this position. The assessment is the same for all O&M requisitions. If you have completed the assessment after December 1, 2021, your assessment results will be mapped to this requisition when you try to access the test. Test passed candidates will be screened by the hiring team and a subset invited for interview. Note that a satisfactory result on the assessment does not guarantee an interview.
