Engineering Technician Jobs

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Engineering Technician non-exempt to assist the Engineering division to review various types of construction plans. The Engineering Tech earns a competitive hourly salary of $23.35 - $25.28/hour based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

• Maintain record drawing and utility GIS layers
• Attend meetings such as Pre-Development, Design Review Committee (DRC) etc requested by the supervisor.
• Assist in the development, planning, and implementation of the division's goals and objectives, including organizational development, personnel development, and overall succession planning efforts.
• Coordinate and communicate with internal and external customers
• Research, collect, and provide record information to the applicant as a response to the Request for Information (RFI)
• Contributes to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.
• Coordinate with other local agencies to maximize efficiency and benefits of adjacent or overlapping improvements and long-term planning.
• Review and approve various permit applications which may include infrastructure permits, residential permits, commercial permits, driveway permits, ROW, Plat, Zone Change, CUP etc.
• Help to address issues during construction and ensure that the infrastructure is acceptable to the City prior to accepting the infrastructure within the City Right Of Way.
• Regular and timely attendance at work.
• Review encroachment request and prepare encroachment agreement

Requirements

• Valid, Class C Texas Driver's License
• Three (3) years of responsible experience in civil engineering (plan review, construction site inspection, etc)
• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

Desired Skills

• Experience with Municipal jobs related to engineering is preferred.
• Must be able to maintain an effective and pleasant working relationship with other employees, contractors and the general public
• Must be able to follow oral and written directions, work well under pressure and stress, handle multiple tasks and prioritize assignments.
• One (1) year certification from college or technical school preferred.
