About FLAIR
FLAIR is an Edtech company co-founded following the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020. Our mission is to build a world where all races can thrive. We Initially launched in the UK, and have over 150 schools using our product in that market. We have now expanded to America and are steadily growing our footprint in the US, signing a number of independent and public schools as early customers.
Our product centers around anonymous, racial equity-specific questionnaires for staff/faculty and students - with our current focus being on Middle and High School-aged students. We visualize data via our dashboards which have embedded data-driven racial equity action plans.
We are currently in an exciting growth phase, having secured over $3 million to-date in venture funding and having signed a contract with our first US district client, a large district in Maryland.
In your role, you will report directly to our CEO, who is based in New York City. As FLAIR’s first full-time, US-based employee, you will play a pivotal role in spearheading FLAIR's success in the U.S.
We are an entirely remote company comprising a close-knit team of approximately fifteen passionate individuals. Our thriving environment welcomes individuals who enjoy high levels of autonomy and embrace change with enthusiasm.
About You
The role of FLAIR's Racial Equity Specialist is exceptionally unique. We are the pioneers in developing a K-12 product that solely concentrates on race and ethnicity data. Therefore, we seek a specialist who is passionate about dedicating their efforts to this aspect of DE&I within the education industry.
This position is ideal for individuals who possess a minimum of one year of experience working on racial equity initiatives with Middle and High School students and faculty. Candidates who have worked either as an internal resource or as a consultant in the K-12 education sector will also be considered.
The role is suited for someone who is keen to take a research-driven and academic approach towards driving racial equity. You will enjoy project work that will involve extensive periods of research and writing.
Crucially, given FLAIR is a technology company and not a consultancy, the role will require you to be a big believer that digital solutions can help move the needle on racial equity.
Responsibilities
Initially, your primary responsibilities will revolve around writing up a detailed set of racial equity specific interventions that will form the basis of the action plans we provide to clients.
As the role develops, you will be holding meetings with our clients to help them better understand their questionnaire results and give guidance on the racial equity action plans embedded in their dashboards.
You will also play an integral part in helping FLAIR create new product lines centered around fostering racial equity in schools. By leveraging your in-depth understanding of our clients’ needs, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the evolution of FLAIR’s product.
This position is currently only open to U.S. based applicants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write up engaging and actionable recommendations specifically tailored for implementation within K-12 educational settings, aiming to drive remarkable strides in racial equity among FLAIR's esteemed client base.
- Embark on comprehensive research to uncover best-in-class practices that schools can adopt to foster racially equitable environments among both their staff and student populations.
- Continuously refine and enhance our extensive database of recommendations, incorporating the latest industry best practices to ensure it remains at the forefront of empowering change and progress.
- Forge strong partnerships with external experts, carefully assessing and selecting those who will contribute valuable insights to FLAIR's recommendation database, fueling our mission of driving racial equity in education.
Growth Opportunities:
- Become a trusted advisor with clients as you host regular progress calls, acting as a sounding board as they embark on impactful initiatives for racial equity.
- Travel around the United States to attend industry leading conferences to speak publicly on behalf of FLAIR.
- Lead the charge in hosting vibrant and engaging virtual roundtables, where our clients can connect and learn from their peers in a collaborative and inspiring environment.
