Junior Graphic Designer Description/Job Summary

Grunley Construction Company, Inc. is looking for a junior designer to join our dynamic Marketing and Business Development Department. The right candidate will have a creative portfolio, pay attention to detail, and have a firm understanding of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. The junior designer must have a desire to develop new skills in print, web, and multimedia design and be able to provide project, concept, and production support.

The junior graphic designer will design, manage, and execute the development of graphics for web, social media, internal communications, presentations, and marketing material for a variety of projects. He/she/they will also assist and work with the Senior Graphic Designer on the production process for in-house projects, create graphics as requested, and assist in day-to-day graphic requests for print, email, and web.

This position reports to the Senior Graphic Designer.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Assist and work with other designers on various production items for in-house projects
• Coordinate with outside vendors on print production materials
• Visit jobsites to take photographs
• Format PowerPoint and pitch decks
• Maintain and archive the firm's photo library - cataloguing and acquiring relevant marketing photos
• Create graphics for social media and email marketing campaigns
• Update website content
• Create motion graphics
• Design print and digital marketing collateral including ads, brochures, newsletters, signage, folders, maps, white papers, infographics, etc.
• Design and produce templates for various print, PowerPoint, and online digital projects
• Work with the Design team to maintain brand standards for graphics and print products
• Edit photos

• Working knowledge of data visualization programs (interactive maps, charts, and graphs)

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills, with the ability to clearly articulate visual design concepts to team members.

• Ability to interpret and present complicated concepts in a visually appealing and clear manner.
• Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail.
• Strength in information and data visualizations graphics
• Flexibility and willingness to meet the demands of the role through extended hours as necessary.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and InDesign)
• Outstanding organizational and project management skills, including the ability to multi-task, shift and manage priorities and resources, adhere to project schedules, and work in a proactive manner on tight deadlines.
• Passion for interpreting complex data into digestible graphics
• Demonstrated creativity and excellent technical skills in all aspects of graphic design including concepts, typography, imagery, color, and layout
• Strength in creating motion graphics

Required Experience

1-2 years of professional graphic design experience (internships included), preferably in an in-house graphics department or a design studio.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in graphic design.
