Position Summary:

We are seeking for a highly capable IT System & Support Admin/Engineer to provide administer and install on-site HPC systems, and provide technical assistance to our staff, end users, and internal systems. In this role, your duties will include responding to and troubleshooting hardware/software issues, ensuring optimal functionality of end user technology, and providing a streamlined and enjoyable IT experience for all users. This role also includes unpacking and installing (racking) new hardware systems as they arrive, and to administer backup systems. As a member of the Entanglement team, you will contribute to a team with diverse areas of expertise through interdisciplinary problem-solving spanning across multiple domains of expertise.

Major Responsibilities:

• Partner with Senior team members to address infrastructure support requirements
• Work with the team to implement best practices and standards throughout the organization
• Serve as the first point of contact for end users seeking technical assistance over the phone, email, chat, or in person
• Support the implementation of new hardware/software solutions
• Provide system administrative functions for on-site hardware and systems
• Unpack, install, and rack various hardware systems
• Record issues and their resolution
• Perform maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software, and other equipment at regular intervals
• On-site Infrastructure support
• Perform remote and on-site troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions
• Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by end users
• Direct unresolved issues to the next level of the support team and work with them to resolve and improve the tools available for first level support
• Identify and suggest possible improvements procedures
• Support networking and infrastructure team
• Coordinate with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues

Qualifications:

• Experience installing, maintaining and troubleshooting, Postfix, OpenLDAP, NOMAD, Docker, Puppet/Ansible, Git, Scripting (Python, Bash, Go)
• Friendly demeanor with a service attitude
• Ability to plan, organize, prioritize tasks, and complete assigned projects with minimal supervision
• Experience maintaining highly-available systems/services
• An understanding of code review and familiarity with tools like GitHub and GitLab
• Comprehensive knowledge of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products
• Comprehensive knowledge of Linux, MacOS, Windows, Networking, and Infrastructure
• Familiarity with configuration management and automation
• Ability to work on-site in New York City (lower Manhattan)
• Familiarity with BASH and interest in one of PowerShell, golang, python, rust
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; friendly demeanor
• Proficiency in English
• 4+ years of experience working in an IT systems & support environment
• Experience implementing systems-level security technologies like SELinux and following security best-practices

Education and Experience:

A degree or commensurate experience in Computer Science, is preferable.
