State of Idaho Opportunity

Summary:

The Idaho State Controller's Office is looking for a Network Engineer I to operate, configure, analyze, maintain, and monitor SCO network infrastructure, including firewalls, application delivery services, the network access and core layers, and any other infrastructure components, as necessary. The ideal candidate should have excellent troubleshooting and communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Incumbents have experience with established CSC processes, customer service, support escalation procedures and management / enhancement of SCO’s network infrastructure best practices.

Job Functions:

  • Training of other IT staff on the use of applicable interfaces and processes
  • Participation in research and analysis of network issues
  • Development of network-related business processes
  • Plans for and directs installation of new and upgraded equipment; participates in developing and maintaining IT disaster recovery planning; enforces security system
  • Maintenance and day-to-day operations of the SCO network infrastructure

  • Resolution of problems and change requests pertaining to user, network, and security

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience working with TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP
  • Troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Experience configuring common networking equipment
  • Experience working in a VMware virtual environment
  • Good knowledge of principles and best practices of SCO information technology infrastructure, production processes and support policies/procedures
  • Ability to effectively operate network software systems
  • Assist in the installation and configuration of network hardware
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve network related issues

  • Experience maintaining production schedules and meeting pre-defined deadlines

Desired Qualifications:

  • Cisco Meraki experience
  • Cisco networking certification(s).
  • Cisco Firewall management experience.

  • Cisco Identify Services Engine

Additional Functions:

  • Demonstrates timely and consistent attendance
  • Contributes to the positive performance of the Division of Computer Services and the office

  • Any additional duties as assigned by State Controller or his/her designee
