The incumbent will have primary oversight in evaluating, supporting, and managing technology assets including computers, servers, software, multimedia, and data storage for the Department of Health Outcomes and Policy and the Institute for Child Health Policy, University of Florida. Duties will include, but are not limited to, installation and maintenance of software and hardware, use of analytical skills to diagnose and remediate software and hardware problems, and developing and implementing strategic proposals and workplans for IT systems in support of the department and Institute. In addition, he/she will interface with external department investigators to plan and coordinate project specific IT needs, and with all UF core IT services groups.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Support administrative management of internal IT services, including user access controls, hardware and software resources, relationships with core UF IT service groups.
- Responsible for development and implementation of strategic recommendations for IT.
- Evaluate current equipment and software, and researches and provides recommendations on software, hardware, and IT policies to support UF missions.
- Serves as the primary contact and interfaces with Core UFIT services groups and external vendors on software and hardware purchases, installation requirements and installation issues that arise with software, and user access to IT resources.
- Update department managed software; reinstallation, and renewal as needed.
- Use analytical skills to improve on existing systems.
- Configure and maintain internally managed hardware.
- Maintains familiarity with software standards and procedures.
- Develops strategies for implementing multimedia technology.
- Instruct users on use of academic technologies and software.
Assist internal and external administrators and researchers in addressing application needs. Interact with administrators, researchers, and stakeholders to develop health policy related applications, and develop functional specification based on requests. Responsible for formulating and recommending policies, procedures, and improvements to effectively administer the departments web applications, including: determination of system requirements, and interpretation of departmental and project policies and program needs.
Facilitate rapid response to IT needs by maintaining cordial and effective relationships with IT organizations across campus.
Maintain and enhance technical currency by appropriate professional development activities.
$100,000 to $120,000
Master's degree and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Working knowledge of standard technologies in a broad range of computer-related topics, including operating systems, listserves, web hosting, web design, graphic design, database operations, server hardware and software
Demonstrated technical aptitude to learn technically involved knowledge content.
Ability to work well with faculty, staff, students, and external vendors and provide training and technical support.
Ability to work well as a team member and to work independently on projects.
