About The Job


Our Mission


The Capital Connect business is a fast-growing global team within J.P. Morgan's Corporate & Investment Bank. We are creating a high-profile and exciting new fintech business for the firm, focused on early-stage private markets. This cross-functional business leverages the scale, network and data of JPM to create holistic members-only platform for start-ups and every type of investor. This platform will allow members to network with other members, benchmark companies using proprietary data, consume exclusive content and raise/invest capital on a seamless platform. This cross-functional team operates like a true start-up within the larger company.


The role sits on the Private Capital Markets team aligned with Capital Connect, and is dedicated to helping J.P. Morgan's early-stage, disruptive, and fast-growing corporate clients raise equity capital in the private markets. Additionally, you will be core to helping develop and test a suite of proprietary JPMC tools that simplify and speed up the capital raise process for start-up companies.


Day-to-day You Will


  • Evaluate and develop a deep pipeline of private capital markets opportunities, and work with internal and external teams to drive equity private placement execution processes
  • Work with coverage and industry partners to assess sectors and companies of interest, and leverage best-in-class JPM insights to develop your own views
  • Lead client dialogue including managing deal processes, Q&A, management interviews
  • Lead JPM diligence processes on potential opportunities, including evaluating client materials and driving internal approval processes
  • Review and coordinate work of junior bankers, and train junior team members
  • Work directly with issuer clients to develop a deep understanding of their company business models, financial metrics, management teams, and projected future performance
  • Work with diverse teams across investment banking, corporate banking, private banking, Capital Connect and others to deliver the best outcome for your clients
  • Create and refine marketing and execution materials for maximum client impact


Essentials


  • A well-rounded academic background from a top tier educational institution.
  • Deep interest in financial markets, early-stage capital-raising activity, and a strong understanding of the players within the sector.
  • An execution oriented mindset, exceptional organizational skills and understanding of transaction cycles
  • Deep analytical background, prior investment banking or investing experience a must.
  • Willingness and ability to challenge the status quo, think creatively, and problem-solve.
  • Strong accounting, finance, quantitative and business writing skills.
  • The ability to work independently, be proactive and highly motivated to succeed.
  • Impeccable communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with senior professionals and clients

For those in eligible roles, discretionary incentive compensation which may be awarded in recognition of individual achievements and contributions.
