POSITION: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has multiple openings for an IC Design Engineer in Berkeley, CA.
Duties: Develop high-performance multi-channel data acquisition and imager Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) for major components of sizable Laboratory projects/programs. Independently prepare design specifications, analyses, and recommendations for approval of scientific and management personnel. Design and specify high-performance analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits. With minimal supervision, take responsibility for specific subtasks such as block layout, verification, or ensuring successful chip integration. Test and evaluate integrated circuits and interface with other electronic equipment. Participate as an authoritative expert in proposals of new technology for integrate circuits as engineering components of scientific initiatives and projects/programs, working with other engineers, project/program leaders, scientists, and management both within and outside the department or division. Evaluate new technologies by fielding innovative integrated circuits, including the development of plans to improve/develop integrated circuit technology. Provide engineering direction and judgment for developmental work, with due consideration for scientific and practical concerns. Provide oversight to technical staff. Participate in long-term planning. Develop project plans, schedules, and cost estimates budget planning/staffing plans, as well as formal and informal design reviews. Prepare technical or progress reports with minimal supervision.
Benefits: This full salary range of this position is between $154,272 to $207,852 per year depending upon candidate's full skills, knowledge, and abilities, including education, certifications, and years of experience.
Requirements: Employer will accept a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related technical field.
