GROUP DESCRIPTION: Jefferies’ Investment Banking Management team is involved in all functions of supporting the Global Head of Investment Banking and Capital Markets and the Global COO of Investment Banking and Capital Markets. The team manages all aspects of the largest division (by revenue) within Jefferies Group.
POSITION: The IB Management group is actively looking for an experienced Business Analyst in our New York City office. The role will require extensive interaction with all levels of Investment Banking and Jefferies Group, including senior firm leadership. As a Business Analyst on the IB Management team, you will gain exposure to all facets of investment banking, across all industry groups, products, and regions. This role will consist of a wide variety of analyses with a focus on Dealogic to provide critical market and competitive data to senior management.
Responsibilities include:
- Other: Wide range of ad hoc mini projects, including administrative tasks
- Budgeting Revenue and Compensation: Support the internal budgeting process and helping meet requirements of Jefferies senior management
- Internal presentations and communications: Includes Board presentations, internal presentations and offsites
- Dealogic Database: Running critical and bespoke Dealogic runs for members of senior management to assess growth opportunity and analyze firm performance. Quarterly reconciliation of internal database and Dealogic to capture all deals and fees for most accurate data.
- Business analysis: Regular performance analysis of all subsectors, including ad hoc financial analysis. Projects include developing growth strategies, assessing and planning new market entries, strategic business deep dives and designing banking wide initiatives.
Required Background/Skills
- Strong technical, written and verbal communication skills
- Must be willing to work late nights / weekends as needed
- Prior experience in finance/banking is preferred
- Motivated self-starter with strong work ethic and keen business acumen
- Ability to multi-task and work independently
- This role requires an analytical approach and strong attention to detail
- Must have a confident and pro-active attitude
- Proven ability to multitask and manage a variety of projects simultaneously
Minimum Requirements
- Knowledge of Dealogic and CapitalIQ strongly preferred
- College degree in related field of study
- Must have 1-2 years work experience in financial services industry
- Knowledge of Investment Banking products strongly preferred
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint & database management skills
The salary range for this role is $95,000 - $125,000
