Introduction

The Human Services Center Supervisor coordinates program activities that provide social and/or behavioral health services in conjunction with public, private sector and non-profit social service agencies and provides social services activities in for Parks, Recreation and Human Services Department work units.
Youth and Family Services Assignment
The Human Services Center Supervisor provides professional level behavioral health outreach services through direct practice, case management, facilitation and consultation to youth and families. Additional responsibilities include the coordination of prevention and intervention programs, contract services and community collaborations. The Human Services Center Supervisor operates out of the Human Services department within the Community Services Division.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Sociology, counseling or a closely related field from an accredited educational institution.
  • Four years' work experience in social work, psychology or counseling and experience coordinating a social or behavioral health service program.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work or a closely related field.
  • At least 6 months of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual skills may be required for some positions.
  • An equivalent combination of education and job-related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
  • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
  • An Arizona Board of Behavioral Health License is required in counseling, social work or a closely related field (for Youth and Family Services assignment).
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/section assignment.

Essential Functions

  • Works closely with City of Scottsdale staff, including School Resource Officers, Police Crisis, Parks and Recreation, libraries and community centers.
  • Develops and participates in and coordinates community educational presentations for agencies, schools and city programs in the behavioral health field including substance abuse prevention, parenting, youth trends and generational differences in.
  • Provides direct services to clients in all YFS program areas as needed including intakes, individual education, case management, written reports, record keeping, and statistics.
  • Participates on city and community task forces and collaborative groups which address youth and family issues.

  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with the Scottsdale City Court, Scottsdale Prosecution, Maricopa County Superior Court Juvenile Division, other municipal courts, Maricopa County Juvenile Probation Officers, the Scottsdale Police Department, School Resource Officers, Police Crisis, the Scottsdale School District, alternative schools, charter schools and community agencies.
