Job Description

Program Overview:

JCCA is seeking qualified Youth and Family Support Coordinators to join our Residential Treatment Campus, offering a safe and supervised setting for at risk youth, ages 5-21. The Youth and Family Support Coordinator will be part of a new initiative known as Families First, designed to increase community/family-based programming, most specifically preventive services, so that families get the support they need for their children to remain at home. The program aims to reduce the amount of time a youth is in residential care and return children to a family-based setting as quickly as possible.

Position Summary:

The Youth and Family Support Coordinator will provide direct supervision to staff who are charged with ensuring a structured, strength-based relationship between the Residential Treatment Team and Parent/Caregiver for the benefit of the youth. Services are delivered in a trauma informed, culturally and linguistically competent manner. The Coordinator will supervise a team that consists of Youth Advocates, Parent Advocates, Aftercare Case Managers and Family Support Specialists.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensure team members are assisting families with achieving their goals pertaining to skill building, coaching, transitional support from residential, self-advocacy, self-efficacy, empowerment and/or community connections
  • Support teams in coaching and modeling self-advocacy, self-efficiency, and empowerment skills for youth and parents
  • Provide direct supervision and support to the Youth Advocate, Parent Advocate, Aftercare Case Manager and Family Support Specialist
  • Oversee the efforts of team members as they provide support to families in learning and practicing strategies to strengthen their child’s mental, and physical development
  • Develop systems to monitor the families progress in achieving goals detailed in the plan
  • Assist with collaboration and coordination between the interdisciplinary Residential Treatment Team and Family Support Team
  • Support implementation of relevant groups and events for youth and families to support their transition from residential to the community

Qualifications:

  • Must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with client and teams that are culturally and professionally diverse
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new platforms
  • Agree to practice according to the Family Peer Advocate Code of Ethics
