Job Description

We are looking for a creative problem solver with the ability to develop strong partnerships and collaborative relationships with employees and leadership. In this role, you will provide operational and consultative support to managers and their teams enabling them to confidently manage their staff in alignment with Fortis philosophies, policies and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Coaches managers on moderately complex employee relations issues, providing guidance on conversations with employees, the employee relations process, and potential legal issues
  • Supports managers in solving people related business challenges by understanding local issues, considering possible alternatives, and taking action quickly and efficiently
  • Assists in the external recruiting process, including screening, interviewing, coordinating pre-employment screenings, and participating in recruitment activities
  • Facilitates new employee orientation and onboarding process
  • Participates in and oversees the employee performance review process
  • Assists in the development and implementation of Human Resource policies and procedures and their dissemination through employee handbooks, communications, and/or meetings
  • Assists with maintaining all necessary employment records and files including personnel, I-9, medical, leave of absence, recruiting and training for compliance with company and external agency guidelines
  • Ensures all company HR related policies are consistently applied
  • Attends department meetings to increase HR visibility

Requirements

  • Experience coaching leadership on HR issues
  • HR certification- SHRM-CP and/or PHR, preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field required
  • Three (3) plus years of HR Generalist experience
  • Ability to shift work focus and manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with Paylocity a plus
  • Ability to understand business needs and how to leverage HR expertise to meet those needs
