Job Description

Position Summary: The HR Services Specialist will provide consultative guidance to clients on appropriate treatment of life events such as a change in job status, separation from employment, going on disability and/or unpaid leave of absence. Support various schools/administrative units by administering Leaves of Absence activities for their employees and educate employees and Human Resources on all aspects of leave and disability benefits. Serve as liaison with Human Resources and other business partners on all leave, disability, and return to work needs. Work with third party administrator to resolve employee leave and disability issues as appropriate. Serve as an escalation resource and subject matter expert for complex leave and disability issues and simplify complex leave and disability requirements for clients. Manage, monitor, audit and analyze benefits leave data as well as leave trends. Act as compliance Subject Matter Expert (SME) for legislative and compliance updates related to FMLA and State leaves, which includes informing NYU stakeholders of legislative updates and impacts as appropriate. Qualifications: Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Required Experience:
3+ years relevant human resources experience, including basic knowledge/application of recruitment, employee relations, leave management and HRIS, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience:
3+ years Experience in Human Resources setting
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of HRIS systems and data transmission and knowledge of Web Employee Self-Service applications. Excellent oral and written communications skills, and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact and communicate effectively with people at all organizational levels of the University. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion. Strong analytical skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively and handle multiple deadlines. Ability to work in a team environment with a client service focus. Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Knowledge of of MS-Office tools - Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
Additional Information: In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $63,000.00 to USD $77,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
