Position Overview
Avantus Federal, recently acquired by QinetiQ, is seeking a HR Generalist to join our HR Delivery Team! This QinetiQ/Avantus HR Team is a supportive and collaborative team, fast paced, great culture, with tons of opportunities to learn and grow your career. The ideal candidate places high value on accountability, works independently, and is passionate about HR and helping people.
Responsibilities
  • Assists employees with policy and basic benefit related questions.
  • Drafting standard documents such as transition memos, employment verifications, etc.
  • Completing ad-hoc tasks in support of employee engagement initiatives to include items such as occasional event coordination and assistance with administrative tasks such as ordering gifts, etc.
  • Provide HR Generalist support to employees to include assisting with employee relations, employee and manager questions and concerns, separations, awards processing, as well as onboarding and offboarding activities.
  • Managing awards programs such as annual awards and employee recognition program.
  • E-filing documentation in employment records in a timely manner.
  • Developing an in depth understanding of the employee handbook and policies to communicate details to employees and management.
  • Monitoring corporate personnel actions and actions that are triggered in accordance with pay periods and processing timelines to ensure accurate and timely deductions or updates to employees payroll.
  • Researching trends to make initial recommendations on policies, procedures, and best practices within HR.
  • Drafting HR related communication to large audiences through employee and management newsletters.
  • Provides guidance to employees and managers in matters related to HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist with researching, creating and updating policies.
  • Familiarity with an HRIS system (UKG or Success Factors a plus) and processing updates in the HRIS for personnel actions.
  • Articulating responses to employee questions in writing and over the phone in an empathetic way while providing a positive customer service experience
  • Building relationships with employees to increase comfort level in engaging in HR by attending employee events (in-person and virtual) and promoting HR initiatives, programs and resources.
Required Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – specifically in Excel
  • Experience with HRIS systems and capabilities (UKG/UltiPro Ideal)
  • Attention to detail
  • General knowledge of standard HR policies and procedures
  • 2-4 years’ experience working in HR related roles
  • Experience working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment
  • Great written and communication skills and a high level of customer service skills
  • Familiarity with employment law as it relates to COBRA, FMLA, AAP, EEO, HIPAA, OFCCP
