Job Description
Overview
Highlight is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support our growing government contracting firm. This position will report directly to our Director at our Fairfax Headquarters.
Responsibilities
  • Conducts or assists with record audits and mandatory reports, which may include I-9 audits, EEO-1 filings, payroll audits, and other compliance reviews.
  • Maintains employee records, ensuring completion and accuracy of details such as employee contact information, job classification, pay rates, organizational structure, and other key details.
  • Manages employee life cycle, which includes onboarding, offboarding, resignations, terminations, and extended leaves of absence.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors; refers complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to performance and talent management, recognition and morale, and training and development.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and all records.
  • Assists with the administration of employee benefits, which may include enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides clerical support.
  • Collects and manages HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the HRIS, payroll outputs, management input, exit interviews, employment records, exit surveys, and other sources.
  • Assist with bi-weekly payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, and reconciliations.
Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting HR administration (1-3 years preferred).
  • SHRM-CP a plus.
  • Strong customer focus approach to providing HR services.
  • Demonstrated understanding of HR principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administrator, or a related field required but may be substituted with 3-4 years of related work experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, and an orientation towards developing and supporting staff.
  • Detail oriented team player with ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
