Job Description
Overview
Our client located in Virginia Beach, VA is seeck a HR Generalist for a Contract-to-hire engagement. The HR Generalist is responsible for delivering policies, programs, and practices. Responsibilities include recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, and leave management. This role regularly interprets and communicates policies and procedures and serves as the primary point of contact for HR-related issues.
Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with Atlantic Dominion’s Controller to accomplish company goals and ensure legal compliance.
  • Responsible for leave administration (Workers’ Comp, FMLA, and Short-term disability).
  • Provide human resources guidance and support within the areas of recruitment and onboarding.
  • Maintain accuracy and ensure data integrity in HRIS (Paylocity) and personnel files.
  • Communicate benefit information/highlights to staff members regularly.
  • Monitor benefit file feed reports for all insurance carriers and 401K and make necessary corrections and modifications as needed.
  • Manage compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws.
  • Coordinate benefit open enrollment process and maintain a regular and positive relationship with benefit brokers and insurance carriers.
  • Assist with compiling payroll data for benchmarking and other 3 rd party needs.
  • The HR Generalist will engage directly with departmental leadership to ensure that consistent and dependable HR and payroll support is provided to each area.
  • Responsible for benefits administration to include assisting employees with questions and reconciling monthly benefit invoices.
  • Recommend new policies and modifications to current human resources policies, procedures, and programs, as needed.
  • Prepare reports for upper management and ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies. Assist with annual 401k audit.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll including garnishments, commissions, bonuses, and productivity pay.
Qualifications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and collaborate well in a team environment.
  • SHRM certification is preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Five or more years of human resource experience is required.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS systems (Paylocity).
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentialit y.
