Job Description
OBJECTIVE
City Wide is looking for an HR Generalist for our organization. We are a locally-owned, national organization in the building maintenance industry with more than 60 years experience managing more than 20+ facility services, including janitorial services. Here you will find a high-energy work environment that balances high expectations with coaching, group support, and fun. This position is located in our Lenexa corporate office.
The HR Generalist administers City Wide Maintenance policies and programs, balancing employee advocacy and business operating needs. This position oversees HR-related disciplines including recruitment, employee relations, employee and supervisor training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, compliance training, and working with City Wide’s operations team.
Essential Functions
  • Work closely with the City Wide Recruiter to manage applicant flow, alternative recruiting sources, responsible for up to 30% recruiting.
  • Maintains daily HR activities effectively in accordance with City Wide HR policies (leaves of absences and harassment prevention), procedures, and organizational expectations.
  • Oversee and administer new hire onboarding program and new hire orientations, including basic janitorial training program.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment laws.
  • Lead change management initiatives by creating awareness, understanding, buy-in and influencing operational changes – Implement City Wide’s culture and our “Why.”
  • Deliver HR support and services to foster a positive culture within City Wide; aligning HR disciplines with organizational goals and strategy.
  • Conduct employee and supervisory training including benefits, policies and procedures and prevention of harassment and discrimination.
  • Manage unemployment claims; documentation, reporting and training.
  • Develop and implement effective employee retention efforts and educating management in effective retention strategies; perform all exit interviews.
  • Administer and monitor City Wide’s performance and employee recognition programs.
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of HRIS, Payroll and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Demonstrated analytical, negotiating, problem-solving skills and highly detail orientation (ability to follow-up).
  • Ability to communicate and influence individuals and groups to gain buy-in and acceptance of new ideas and approaches.
  • 3+years Human Resources experience and proven experience recruiting, required.
  • Union experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal, State and Local employment/labor laws required.
  • Successfully complete and pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Experience in a service-based environment, highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and build strong and productive personal relationships with various levels of management.
  • Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and professional discretion.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient literacy with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field highly desired.
