Position Summary

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for supporting HR programs and activities through hands-on delivery in the areas of hiring and interviewing staff, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and leave, and company policies and practices.


Reporting Relationships

The HR Generalist will report to the Director of Human Resources.


Position Responsibilities


  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Collect and compile HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human resource information system (HRIS) and payroll outputs, management and employee surveys, exit interviews, and other sources.
  • Use surveys, interviews, and other studies to conduct research regarding human resource policies, compensation, and other employment issues.
  • Evaluate and manage existing document management procedures to determine current effectiveness and efficiency; identify and recommend improvements.
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety.
  • Create and sustain HR department standard operating procedures.
  • Assist and consult with the VP of HR regarding employee relations issues.
  • Act as a team player and respond with sense of urgency and amazing customer service work ethic.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Conduct stay and exit interviews, summarize findings, trends, and concerns.
  • Value the importance of completing other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to act with integrity and professionalism while managing sensitive and confidential situations.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP a plus.
  • BS/BA degree in Human Resources, Communications, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a professional environment.
  • Ability to build positive and effective working relationships with cross functional teams.
  • Experience participating in employee relations issues, including investigations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solutions focused – researches and recommends effective responses or actions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint.
  • This position currently is subject to a COVID-19 vaccination and booster requirement, subject to applicable law.
  • Maintains knowledge of employment and labor laws that apply to the human resources function. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
