Job Description
UCLA's Summer Sessions and International Education Office advances campus academic priorities, supports the public service mission of the University, and provides multiple services, resources, and programs to enhance and support teaching excellence, innovation, and inclusivity. Summer Sessions and International Education allow UCLA students to maximize their time at UCLA without extending?and often improving?their time-to-degree. We support course offerings of the faculty, provide information and services to students, and make UCLA education accessible to the wider public. We identify and develop strategic opportunities in partnership with faculty and administrators from over 80 academic units and other campus partners to advance student success goals and to administer hundreds of summer courses and programs, as well as over 175 study abroad programs. Through these offerings each summer, SSIEO serves: 12,851 UCLA undergraduate students; 419 other UC undergraduate students; 784 UC Graduate students; 3,944 non-UC students from almost all US states and more than 70 countries.
The HR Generalist is responsible for consulting with the units that make up Summer Sessions and International Education Office on HR functions such as workforce planning and employment, employee and labor relations, leaves of absences, HRIS and biweekly and monthly payroll. The HR Generalist will provide guidance on policy/procedure interpretation, labor contracts, and in following HR best practices to employees in all classifications, as well as supervisors, and managers in assigned units. This requires the ability to partner with leaders and colleagues at various levels across several centralized offices such as Grad Division, Division of Undergraduate Education HR, Campus HR, risk management, and the Central Resources Unit and UCPath Center in Riverside, CA.
