DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
This is one of several HR Generalists supporting clients/departments in the divisions served by the SSO.
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the SSO HR Supervisor, provide daily transactional support for Shared Services Organization (SSO) clients; (currently, the SSO serves approximately 7,000 employees in eight divisions on campus). Performs a variety of functions and transactional processing related to recruitment, compensation, and position classification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Minimum Education/Experience
- Experience using software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and other computer programs to produce general correspondence, forms, reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Experience working in an environment with frequent interruptions, competing deadlines, and handling high transaction volume, especially during peak periods.
- Experience with analysis, understanding of complex rules of HR policy and procedure; and payroll as it relates to HR procedure.
- Experience coordinating staff recruitment processes, using automated HRIS systems in a high volume, fast paced, multi policy and collective bargaining environment with competing priorities.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
- Skills to maintain confidentiality of information and exercise discretion dealing with controversial or potentially sensitive topics.
- Customer service skills to exercise diplomacy in dealing with others and to resolve potential problems and discrepancies.
- Skill to analyze and evaluate complex information, data, or problems in an objective manner.
Preferred:
Preferred Education/Experience
- Experience working with the University’s personnel policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
- Writing skills to prepare a variety of correspondence.
- Organizational skills to meet customer expectations with an emphasis on quality, quantity, and timeliness of work.
- Initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
