Job Purpose:
This position functions as a strategic partner responsible for identifying customer needs and driving appropriate HR solutions with assigned business units.
Essential Functions:
- Employee and management development
- Rewards and recognition
- Grievances
- Strategic planning/organizational design
- Supporting company management team on day-to-day contraction administration
- HR policy/union contract interpretation/procedure/updates
- Guiding management team in all union relations issues
- General HR-related inquiries from managers/employees
- Manage day-to-day employee/labor relations activities such as:
- Maintain data/records in accordance with compliance regulations
- Ethics/labor relations complaint investigations
- Create and deliver ad hoc training on HR/labor topics
- Immigration
- Business issues impacting employees
- Performance management and improvement plans
- Create offer letters and manage the onboarding process for newly hired employees
- Serve as HR business partner with internal clients on:
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a union environment
- Experience in contract administration
- Previous experience as an HR Business Partner or Generalist and/or 5+years experience with altafiber
- 6 to 7 years of experience
Education:
Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses:
HR-related certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR) preferred
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with and influence peers and management through consultation/coaching
- Strong computer literacy with HRIS experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Thorough knowledge of and experience with regulatory requirements to employment, EEO, and affirmative action
- Demonstrated competency in strategic planning and organizational design
- Highly developed research and project management skills
- Strong customer relationship orientation
- Thorough understanding of HR processes and functions
- Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality

Work is typically performed in an office environment.
