Mag Machining Group Leader

The Mag Machining Group Leader reports to the Mag Machining Supervisor and overall includes the following:

• Works with operators to ensure understanding of daily TPM checks and signs off for verification of completion.
• Ensures PPE requirements are followed and communicates with supervisor regarding safety issues
• Works with Department supervisor/Engineering/Maintenance to repair/recover equipment
• Demonstrates the values of our safety culture with in the assigned area
• Possesses working knowledge of all equipment in the assigned area
• Demonstrates Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors
• Drives compliance of established processes to ensure quality of material
• Delivers daily assignments with Machining Operators and provides necessary group trainings with all shift employees.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

Performance Expectations

• Responsible for driving teamwork and initiating internal trainings to help build up the Mag Machining department.
• Following up on ALL daily tasks assigned to operators to verify completion of signoff sheets and ensure that documents are kept current and up to date.
• Responsible for correct entry of daily production into the shift report.
• Responsible for adequately training new operators in all areas regarding job duties i.e. daily/hourly checks, TPM shift checks and finished bin inspections etc.
• All of these are in addition to the responsibilities of the Machining Setter Role.
• Responsible for ensuring that the Work Order Entry procedure is followed for any equipment downtime and proper communication to the shift supervisor regarding downtime.
• Provide feedback to shift supervisor regarding new employees in a timely manner to ensure training effectiveness.
• Responsible for driving the effectiveness of all internal policies and procedures and reports in the appropriate manner when employees are not in compliance with said policies and procedures to the shift supervisor.

Credentials

• Ability to use computers and fluency in Microsoft Suite is essential, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Completion of secondary school or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

• General knowledge of IFS (Entering Work Orders)
• Must be able to talk to employees using soft skills and keep them motivated and accountable
• Ability to type detailed descriptions of all equipment in the department
• Ability to communicate well with personnel from various levels of the organization
• Proven record of good attendance
• Must hold themselves to a high standard of integrity as a leadership role
