Job Description
The Job
The County of San Bernardino is recruiting for Graphic Designer I to create and produce a high volume of diverse, visually engaging print materials, using raw data compiled from various sources including original drawings and creative illustration.

Current vacancy exists with Human Services-Program Development Division.
Note: The resulting eligible list may also be used to fill other vacancies as they occur throughout the County.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting and a medical exam.
Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement is available.
Minimum Requirements
Education: An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in Art or Commercial Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design, or completed coursework equivalent to an Associate's Degree (27 semester or 40 quarter units in Art/Commercial Art or Graphic Design- Transcripts MUST be attached if no conferred degree ).
  • AND -
Experience: Two (2) years of paid full-time equivalent professional experience in Graphic Design using the following computer programs:
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Web programs (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash)
  • Adobe CS6 or most current Creative Cloud applications which include Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign.
This experience must be clearly detailed in the Work Experience section of the Application.
Qualifying degrees must be completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. In addition, degrees completed outside of the U.S. must be accompanied by an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service indicating equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at the college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, knowledge of PC and Mac platforms, and experience in web design, video production, and multimedia programming. An established portfolio is highly desirable. Additionally, demonstrated knowledge in the following areas: Prepress, CTP, Layout and Pagination processes and/or Software.
