Position Overview

The Design and Production Specialist reports to the Creative Director. The D+P Specialist works closely with Project Managers to review client needs and design intents to ensure shop drawings are clearly documented and interpreted properly. This position ensures design, construction details, and documentation is organized, clear, and conform to all drafting standards. The Design and Production Specialist develops concepts based on client preferences and prepares final files using supplied specifications for several types of print and fabrication methods.

Essential Functions

● Evaluates design scopes and documents for constructibility

● Coordinates with other team members to design, lay out, or detail components and to resolve design or other problems

● Creates and revises accurate final artwork, production files, and proofs according to established customer specifications, internal guidelines, and industry standards

● Creates shop drawings with adequate detail to aid the manufacturing and installation process, including message schedules and mounting details

● Programs signage and wayfinding plans for base building and ADA code compliance

● Brainstorms creative concepts, with guidance from Creative Director

● Uses creative skills to create mood boards, concepts, and layouts for client projects related to environmental graphic design, signage, and wayfinding

● Assists with brand management and bid processes including website updates, content development, marketing materials, client presentations, and file storage

● Successfully prioritizes assignments and manages appropriate timelines and deliverables with attention to detail

● Proactively identifies areas of improvement and suggests solutions to optimize workflows

● Facilitates and attends client meetings

About You

● 5+ years’ experience as a Production Designer or equivalent creative role in a setting with a focus on print design, environmental graphics, signage fabrication, or metal manufacturing

● Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment; which may include metal fabrication, machining technology, and printed substrate fabrication

● Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical plans and elevations

● Understanding of applicable codes, regulations, and standards governing design and installation

processes, including the Americans with Disabilities Act

● A solid foundation of design skills and demonstrated excellence in the development of conceptual design supported by strategic thinking and rationale to support your ideas

● Ability to work and think independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines

● Ability to interact well with a wide range of people of all levels within and outside drive21

● Proficient in Adobe CC (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign), G Suite; CAD software a plus

● Strong attention to detail, exceedingly well-organized, and technologically savvy
