This role within Newtimes is the Logistic support for a number of our North America apparel brands and customers. It’s a key position which will offer an exciting opportunity to enhance our service levels to meet customers’ expectations on cost competitiveness, on-time delivery and enhanced logistics solutions for Newtimes DDP business.
Key objectives will include developing and strengthening the global logistics network for Newtimes, building upon best practice to coordinate logistics processes and carrier relationships, leveraging the best cost and on-time delivery. Execute timely flow of import & domestic products by overseeing cargo tracking, Customs clearance and delivery to Newtimes locations and/or customers. Ensure that all legislation, regulatory and other requirements relating to the importation of commercial shipments are met.
Scope of responsibilities
Logistics
- Manage direct connection with Freight Forwarders, Couriers, Customs Broker and Trucking companies.
- Coordination of International and Domestic shipments from origin/factories through delivery to Newtimes locations and customers.
- Monitor shipments for errors, troubleshoot with origin, internal teams and IT for solution
- Manage processing of shipments in ERP system.
- Ensure correct duty is paid by reviewing HTS codes
- Drive cost savings by assisting and supporting freight cost negotiations to get the lowest possible pricing for the service levels and leadtimes needed
- Support in the implementation and launch of Mercado within Newtimes, including user feedback and enhancement recommendations
- Ensure packing lists are processed timely and accurately
- Actively communicate with all outside vendors to track shipments and keep delivery dates updated.
Administrative
- Other administrative duties and assignments as required.
- Receive, review, and approve freight, duty and trucking invoices.
- Filing & clerical duties as needed.
Requirements
- Core competencies: sense of urgency, attention to detail, time management, excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Trade/Customs compliance and garments classification experience is a plus
- Education: 4-year college degree preferred
- 3-5 years’ experience in logistics, supply chain or related field
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, experience using an ERP system
